The European country is mixed with retirement age
The Danes raise their retirement age. The local parliament voted to For all people born after December 31, 1970, he was 70 years. The retirement age in Denmark has been associated with the expected life expectancy since 2006 and it changes every five years. It is currently 67 years, but in 2030 it will grow up to 68 years, in 2035 to 69 years. The retirement age after exceeding the 70 years of age would mean that the Danes would become the longest working nation in Europe. It is to become effective in 2040.
The last such change?
The premiere of Denmark Mette Frederiksen has already shared doubts about raising the retirement age without limits, based on the average life expectancy. She even announced the renegotiation of the 2006 regulations – we no longer believe that the retirement age should be automatically raised. Our party He doesn't think that you can simply repeat that people have to work a year longer she said. If the Danes did not stop this mechanism, in 2070 they would retire at the age of 74. – You need more social balance and common sense – emphasized Denmark's premiere.
Danes are not satisfied
Trade unions are furious for such a significant extension of the retirement age. On May 20, 2025, in Copenhagen, demonstrations of opponents were held to increase retirement age. – Let's create a pension policy adapted to realityand not only for spreadsheets for mathematics students – said Jesper Ettrup Rasmussen, head of one of the trade union organizations. He emphasized that raising the retirement age to 70 is unfounded. – We are not against changes. We are not against responsibility. But we are against the automatic pilot – one that allows for a drastic raising of retirement age, without asking anyone if our health will withstand it – he emphasized. He pointed out, among others for the need to adapt the retirement age to working conditions.
What about Poland?
Economists from the International Monetary Fund last year They indicated Poland that she should follow the path, among others Denmark and make retirement age dependent on the expected life expectancy. From the data we have, there is a space for this. The CSO said in March that for women aged 60, i.e. in retirement age, the average life length is 22.2 years. So it's over 82 years. In turn, in the case of men aged 65, the average life length is 18.4 years, or over 83 years. In turn, Eurostat reports that in 2023 women in Poland lived on average 82.4 years, and men: 74.8 years. However, Prime Minister Donald Tusk has repeatedly assured that Poland is not planning to change the amount of retirement age.
