Ten people were killed and one injured in a shooting in the western Ecuadorian port city of Guayaquil on Saturday night, local authorities said.
The prosecutor’s office tweeted that a rifle and handguns had been found at the scene of the attack, but the perpetrators had not yet been identified or apprehended, Reuters reported.
State of emergency in Guayaquil
It has been in force in the Pacific city of Guayaquil since the beginning of April state of emergency and curfew. Last year, a state of emergency was also declared there, and the media then reported on bombings by competing gangs of cocaine dealers.
In connection with the increase in crime, the authorities Ecuador allowed citizens to carry and use firearms for self-defence.
