The District Prosecutor's Office in Siedlce is investigating the circumstances of the death of a three-year-old girl with disabilities. The child's mother has been temporarily arrested. She had previously been charged with abusing her daughter.
Deputy District Prosecutor in Siedlce Adrian Wysokiński reported that the child died on the night of August 1-2. – The services were notified by a friend of the child's mother, who was with them in the apartment at the time – said the prosecutor. Two ambulance crews were on site. Despite attempts to resuscitate the child, they could not save him.
“In a state of exhaustion and malnutrition”
On Tuesday, the child's 25-year-old mother and her partner were detained. The man was released after questioning, while the mother was charged with abusing a person helpless due to age and health, and with unintentionally causing the death of a child.
The 25-year-old admitted to the charges and gave an explanation. On Thursday, at the request of the prosecutor's office, the court decided to temporarily arrest her for three months.
The prosecutor noted that the qualification of the acts the woman is accused of may change after investigators receive the results of the autopsy, which was performed on Tuesday.
– Formally, we do not yet know the cause of the child's death. The experts announced that they will give us their opinion on this matter next week – said prosecutor Wysokiński.
According to investigators, the three-year-old was in a state of exhaustion and malnutrition. The girl had been diagnosed with several illnesses since birth. She did not walk or talk. The three-year-old was cared for by her mother, who is in the process of divorcing the child's father. During her testimony at the prosecutor's office, the 25-year-old said that her father did not help her care for her daughter. The man limited himself to paying child support regularly.
