The police intervened in a premises in Siedlce where there were vending machines. As they found out, they were used for illegal gambling, and the winnings were converted into money. The officers detained two people and found drugs on them.
Siedlce police together with officers of the Masovian Customs and Tax Office in Warsaw searched the selected premises. According to them, they found six machines used to organize illegal gambling games and over PLN 7,000 in cash.
“In the opinion of KAS officers, the machines placed in the premises were used for illegal gambling games of chance. Winnings in kind or points were then converted into cash winnings by the premises staff, as evidenced by the evidence collected during the activities,” said Ewelina Radomyska in a statement. from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Siedlce.
The officers also determined that the slot machines in the premises were used by the organizer to obtain untaxed, illegal income from illegal gambling games. “The total value of the secured property is almost PLN 80,000,” Radomyska added.
The police found drugs
A 32-year-old employee and a 32-year-old man were staying in the premises entered by the police. According to Radomyska, the officers found several grams of amphetamine and marijuana on these people.
The suspects were arrested and charged with drug possession. The woman was additionally charged with reasonable suspicion of committing the crime of gambling contrary to the regulations.
The officers emphasized that fines of up to PLN 100,000 for one machine can be imposed on the possession of vending machines in catering, commercial and service establishments. Organizing gambling games is punishable by up to three years in prison, in addition to a high fine.
