The police, under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, explain the circumstances of the fatal hitting of a cyclist in Sieradz (Łódź Voivodeship). Preliminary findings show that a resident of Sieradz, driving a passenger car, did not exercise caution when overtaking and ran into a 74-year-old cyclist. A woman with a head injury was taken to the hospital, where she died a few hours later.
The tragic event took place on Wednesday (July 13) after 3 p.m. at ul. Jana Pawła II in Sieradz, right behind the Solidarity roundabout. – According to the findings of the policemen, a 48-year-old resident of Sieradz, driving towards Złoczewo, did not exercise caution during the overtaking maneuver and ran over a 74-year-old cyclist – reports staff aspirant Agnieszka Kulawiecka from the police in Sieradz. He adds that the woman who was hit suffered a head injury and was hospitalized. – Despite the efforts of the doctors, the 74-year-old could not be saved, she died after a few hours – said the policewoman.
– Police officers with the participation of a forensics technician were working at the scene. The driver’s state of sobriety was also examined. The woman was sober – concluded Agnieszka Kulawiecka, a spokeswoman for the Sieradz police.
The circumstances of the accident are being explained by the police under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office in Sieradz. The risk of causing a fatal accident is up to 8 years imprisonment.
