Police officers from Sieradz (Łódź Voivodeship) detained two men and a woman who took a 45-year-old man to the forest in the trunk of a car. There they tied him to a tree, beat him and stole his money. The perpetrators were imprisoned for three months. They face up to 20 years in prison.
As the Sieradz police spokeswoman, Staff Aspirant Agnieszka Kulawiecka, informed on Friday, on Monday morning the police officer on duty received a report from a witness who claimed that a beaten man came to his house asking for help. At the scene, the officers found a 45-year-old resident of Sieradz with bodily injuries.
– According to his account, the day before, in the afternoon, a woman he knew and two of her friends drove up to his apartment in an Opel. After a short conversation, they forced him to get into the trunk of the car. Wounded by fear, he obeyed their orders. After a few minutes of driving, they stopped the car in a forest complex. They told the victim to get out of the trunk. The man had no idea where he was, the spokeswoman said.
Then – as the spokeswoman reported – the perpetrators took off the 45-year-old’s clothes and threw them into a nearby field. Then they started beating him. One of the attackers hit him with a telescopic baton, the other aggressors beat and kicked him all over his body. Earlier, they took out his wallet, which contained several hundred zlotys. The aggressors tied the victim to a tree with a rope and drove away. The injured party claimed that he probably lost consciousness because when he woke up it was already dark. After some time, he managed to free himself. While walking along a dirt road, he noticed some buildings. He entered one of the properties and told the owner about what had happened, at the same time asking him for help.
The injured person was taken to hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening.
– A few hours after the report, the police already knew the names of all the attackers. They were two men, aged 31 and 43, and a 32-year-old woman, the partner of the younger of them. The officers also determined where they might be. They went to the 32-year-old’s workplace, where they found the woman and her 31-year-old common-law partner. An Opel car, owned by a 32-year-old woman, was also seized. Traces found in the vehicle indicated that it could have been used to commit a crime, added Staff Aspirant Kulawiecka.
The third suspect was detained in Zduńska Wola.
While checking the forest area, the police found the place where the aggressors took the victim. In a nearby field they also found the victim’s clothing and a telescopic baton with which the attackers had beaten the 45-year-old.
The prosecutor charged the detainees with robbery with a dangerous weapon, deprivation of liberty and bodily harm. The court agreed to the request of the district prosecutor in Sieradz and imposed a three-month arrest on the detainees. The older man had a police record in the past. The suspects face up to 20 years in prison.
