A 36-year-old man and his partner, two years his junior, received a ticket for cycling on the Silesian section of the A4 motorway. The couple was stopped by a patrol from the Speed police group. “Luckily, such situations are not an everyday occurrence,” the Silesian police commented on social media.
The couple's ride, as can be seen in the recording attached to the post on social media, was recorded by a police camera. The man and woman were fined 250 PLN each. “Road traffic regulations prohibit cyclists from using motorways and expressways,” the police remind.
They risked their lives
Police officers remind us that cycling on expressways can easily end in tragedy, because cars can rush there at high speeds and drivers do not expect slow-moving road users.
“If you are planning a cycling route, choose safe cycling paths or local roads that are adapted to cycling traffic,” the police remind.
