Śląsk Wrocław was one step away from advancing to the final round of qualifying for the Conference League. In Thursday's match against St. Gallen, Jacek Magiera's team turned the tables on the two-legged rivals. Unfortunately, later on, a referee intervened and “distorted” the match result, and according to many, he should be banned from refereeing for life. – UEFA's image suffered greatly after that match. It was a complete mess there – Former international referee Marcin Borski told Sport.pl.
Śląsk Wrocław fans hung banners directed at referees and UEFA. Specific words
Less than three days have passed since the match with the Swiss, and Śląsk has already returned to the Ekstraklasa competition. On Sunday at 2:45 p.m. the home clash between Wrocław and Korona Kielce began. However, WKS fans have not forgotten the actions of the Croatian referee. Banners directed at the referee and UEFA appeared in the stands.
As journalist Piotr Potępa, who was present at the stadium, reported, a banner was hung in the most ardent fans' sector with the following content: “Silesia – for us you played like world champions, this will not be changed by the sold Croatian s…t”.
According to the journalist, two other banners were also hung. One read “F..k UEFA” and the other “Stop referees f…ing VARtym”. These are words directed at the entire UEFA, but also at Duje Strukan.
Let us recall that, as announced, Śląsk Wrocław submitted a letter to UEFA regarding the replay of the match. “We are fighting for the good name of Śląsk and Polish teams in Europe. We cannot be treated like this. We want to resolve this match in a sporting manner” – wrote club president Patryk Załęczny on social media. However, knowing the European Federation, the request has little chance of success.
