1. AfD wins in Thuringia
On Sunday, elections to the regional parliaments of Thuringia and Saxony were held. According to the first exit polls, the Alternative for German (AfD) – could win 33.5 percent of the vote. In Saxony, the CDU won the most votes, but the AfD is hot on the heels of the Christian Democrats.

2. Several explosions near Siedlce
In the town of Ryczyca near Siedlce, a fire and several explosions occurred in a barn where hazardous materials were stored, probably also from the Second World War. There could have been one person inside, but firefighters say that the ashes will only be searched after the police and sappers arrive on the scene. Firefighters decided to evacuate residents of houses within a radius of several hundred meters.

4. Iran publishes report on disaster that killed country's president
The helicopter crash that killed Iran's president in May Ebrahim Raisiwas caused by bad weather conditions, including thick fog, Iranian state television reported, describing the final report of the investigation into the matter. The report was prepared by a special committee appointed by the Iranian military to investigate the crash. In May, the armed forces announced that no evidence had been found that could indicate an attack or terrorist attack, Reuters recalled.

5. General strike in Israel
Israel's largest trade union, Histadrut, has announced a one-day general strike for Monday. It will include closing kindergartens and the main international airport in Tel Aviv. The protest has been supported by, among others, a forum associating the largest private employers, some local governments, including the Tel Aviv authorities, the association of rectors of Israeli universities, and the largest opposition party, Jest Przyszłość, and its leader Yair Lapid. This will be the first general strike in Israel since the outbreak of the war in Gaza.
6. Demolition of a tenement house in Poznań begins

A fire and explosion in a tenement house at 12 Kraszewskiego Street in Poznań occurred on the night of 24-25 August. Emergency services were called to a fire in the basement. Residents began evacuating before the emergency services arrived. Five minutes after the call, firefighters were already on site. While searching the basement for the source of the fire, two explosions occurred, after which the fire quickly spread. Two firefighters who were conducting reconnaissance in the basement died. 11 firefighters and three civilians were injured.
