Police officers from Dopiewo detained a 27-year-old resident of Skórzewo, suspected of stealing a WOŚP can from a store. As it turned out, the man was already well known to the uniformed officers from previous crimes.
On Wednesday, January 22, police officers from the Dopiewo Police Station received a report about the theft of a piggy bank used to collect money as part of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.
The incident took place on Tuesday around 11 p.m. Monitoring recorded a young man who rode an electric scooter to one of the grocery stores in Skórzewo near Poznań (Greater Poland Voivodeship).

– He went inside with a motorcycle helmet on his head. He distracted the saleswoman by asking for an item that was away from the cash register where the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity money box was standing. As soon as the saleswoman turned around to reach for the product she was buying, the man took advantage of this moment and stole a can standing next to the cash register. After that, he calmly continued shopping, paid for them and left the store, said the junior asp. Anna Klój from the press team of the Poznań City Police Headquarters.
The police detained a resident of Skórzewo
The case was handled by police officers from the Dopiewo Police Station. The officers determined that the perpetrator of the theft may be a man known to the officers for previous offenses against the law.

A day after the incident, a 27-year-old resident of Skórzewo was arrested. Previously, the man was detained by police for drug offenses, driving despite a driving ban and theft.
The evidence collected in the case allowed the man to be charged with burglary. The prosecutor applied a preventive measure against him in the form of police supervision. The 27-year-old faces a penalty of one to even 10 years in prison. The court will decide his fate.
