The cable car breakdown occurred on Tuesday morning on the southern slope of the Chopok peak in the Low Tatras. As reported by the Slovak services on social media, there was a fault it concerned the queue on the A2 Kosodrevina line – Chopok.
A total of 12 skiers were stuck in the carriages, 10 of whom were women group of students aged 16-17. Rescuers from the Regional Rescue and Firefighting Center of the Low Tatras, the Regional Rescue and Firefighting Center of the Western Tatras – Žiarska dolina and the Avalanche Prevention and Education Center came to their aid.

“Mountain rescuers gradually evacuated all those trapped from three cable cars using cable technology. From there, ski resort employees transported them to the Kosodrevina hotel, where they received hot drinks,” the services reported.
Then all the evacuated skiers stayed transported by cable cars to the Krupowa lower station. Since they did not suffer any injuries, they continued on their own to the accommodation facilities.
