An oily substance was noticed on the Słupia River in Słupsk (Pomeranian Voivodeship). Firefighters separated the polluted water with a dam. The services are investigating where it came from, and officials are appealing to refrain from fishing or recreational use of the river until the situation is clarified.

On Monday (February 6) at 15 anglers informed the services about an oily substance that appeared in the Słupia River in Słupsk. Two fire engines were dispatched to the spot.

Firefighters set up a sorption dam. They stated that so far there is no oily substance on the water, but the city office advises not to use the river for the time being.

As Monika Rapacewicz from the municipal office wrote in a message to the media, “due to the current situation, it is recommended to refrain from using Słupia for fishing and recreational purposes until the threat subsides”.

The services are determining what substance went into the river and what is its source.
