Roads in parts of the country are slippery. Snow, sleet, slush and freezing precipitation may make driving difficult for drivers traveling on the roads of the Podlaskie, Warmian-Masurian, Pomeranian and Masovian Voivodeships.

The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways announced on Thursday that almost 500 snow plows and salt trucks were deployed on the roads of the Podlaskie, Warmian-Masurian, Pomeranian and Masovian Voivodeships. All national roads are passable.

Where is local slipperiness?

Local slipperiness or slush occurs in the province. Podlaskie on dk 16 section Augustów – Ogrodniki, dk 8 ep. Augustów – Raczki, dk S61 section Suwałki – Crawlers; Szczuczyn – Kisielnica, dk 64 episode Jeżewo Stare – Łomża, dk 63 episode Wincenta – Kisielnica, dk 58 episode Szczuczyn – border of the voivodeship, dk 61 section Łomża – Kisielnica. Difficult conditions in Pomerania, firefighter interventions

After snowfall and sleet that fell over the Pomeranian Voivodeship on Wednesday evening and at night from Wednesday to Thursday, driving conditions are difficult. Izabela Osten-Sacken, the head of the GDDKiA Road Information Point, said that 93 vehicles, including 77 plow spreaders, worked in the voivodeship overnight. Most of the equipment was used in the Tri-City area: on the Tri-City Bypass and the Kashubian Route. – On Thursday morning, most expressways are black, with some heavy snow and slush here and there – she said. 88 snow removal and anti-ice vehicles worked on provincial, district and municipal roads. Marcin Kozłówski, duty officer of the Provincial Roads Authority in Gdańsk, reported that the most vehicles were on the roads in the Kościerzyna and Kartuzy counties (22 plows) and in the Wejherowo and Puck counties (28 vehicles). In the Gdańsk and Nowy Dwór poviats, where there is heavy snow on the roads, 11 vehicles left the road. Roads in other counties are locally slippery. Six anti-black ice vehicles worked on roads in the following counties: Sztum, Kwidzyn and Malbork. 10 vehicles in Lębork and Słupsk counties.

The officer on duty at the Commander’s Office of the Provincial Commander of the State Fire Service said that from Wednesday to Thursday, Pomeranian firefighters took part in several interventions related to, among others, removing broken trees and branches that were lying on the roads. He said that at night there was an accident on the A1 motorway near the town of Klonówka. A bus carrying five people overturned on the lane towards Gdańsk. Three people were transported to hospital. Moreover, on the night from Wednesday to Thursday in the town of Udorpie (Bytów poviat), a truck transporting pigs stopped across the road. He explained that the services transferred the animals to another vehicle provided.

Conditions in Warmia and Mazury

Due to freezing rain and sleet, driving conditions in Warmia and Masuria are difficult. 70 solo plow trucks hit national roads.

– We try to respond promptly. National roads are passable – said the officer on duty at the road information point of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways in Olsztyn.
