A weather breakdown is coming. In the next week, atmospheric fronts will pass through Poland with rainfall, sleet and snow. It will rain heavily in the south-eastern regions. We also expect gusty winds and storms.
The weather in Poland is currently influenced by the Paulina River. – An atmospheric front is moving, pushed from the north-west by cold polar air masses – describes tvnmeteo.pl forecaster Arleta Unton-Pyziołek.
– On Monday, the front will still be over the south-eastern regions, from where it will move away from the country's borders. However, further fronts are forming in the cold air. One of them will cover the southern part of Poland, bringing slight rainfall, and in the mountains, snow and rain. The second one is said to lie over the northern regions, formed as a result of the pressure of cold Arctic air. He'll bring it there sleet as well storms – says.
Front after front, snow and wind
On Tuesday, Poland will be affected by another low pressure, smaller but dynamic. – Its center is to migrate from Germany towards the Baltic Sea, reaching the north-western regions of our country. The associated atmospheric front will enter from the west, bringing snowfall that will turn into rain, and then another snow front will roll in at night, announces Unton-Pyziołek. As he emphasizes, “this is the first snowfall in the lowlands in the autumn-winter season, which usually poses a great challenge, threat and causes communication difficulties.”
Additionally, we expect strong winds during rainfall. In gusts it will generally reach speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour, and in the west and north of the country up to 70-90 km/h. Single gusts up to 100 km/h are possible in Western Pomerania, and above this value in the mountains.

“Snowstorms may occur”
As the forecaster says, in the next few days “cold and moist Arctic air will flow to Poland with swirling clouds carrying fleeting snowfall, and Short-term snowstorms may also occur locally“.
– The situation will be serious on Wednesday and Friday in the south and southeast of the country. This part of Poland will be affected by small, but very humid lows, formed at the junction of air from the Mediterranean Sea and the Arctic. As a result of the collision of such different masses, groups of thick rain and snow clouds will be formed from the Silesian Upland, through Małopolska, Podkarpacie to the Lublin region, will bring heavy snowfall – emphasizes Unton-Pyziołek.
On both Wednesday and Friday, 10 centimeters of snow may fall in the southeast of the country, and in the Carpathians, the snow cover may increase by at least 30 cm. Winds gusting to 50-80 km/h will cause snowstorms.
Thursday promises to be calmer in the coming days. On this day, there will be light and light snowfall only in the west, and wind gusts will reach 50-70 km/h.
