The Council of Ministers adopted a proposal to change the amounts of the income criteria entitling to social assistance benefits. The government proposes that from January 1, 2025, the criterion for a single person will be PLN 1,010, and for a person in a family – PLN 823 – the Prime Minister's office announced on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister's Office announced in a statement that the Council of Ministers adopted the proposal to change the quotas income criteria entitling to social assistance benefits from January 1, 2025, submitted by the Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy.

Income criteria up

The government proposed that the criterion should be PLN 1,010 for a single person and PLN 823 for a person in a family. The change in the amounts of the income criteria will also result in an increase in the amounts of cash benefits that are related to the Social Assistance Act. The government's proposal will be submitted to the Social Dialogue Council. The right to cash benefits is available to individuals and families whose income does not exceed the criteria established on the basis of the social intervention threshold.

The change in the amounts of the income criteria will also result in an increase in the amounts of cash benefits related to the Social Assistance Act, e.g.: cash assistance for becoming independent – an increase of PLN 229 (from PLN 1,837 to PLN 2,066), maximum permanent benefit – an increase of PLN 229 ( from PLN 1,000 to PLN 1,229).

The income criteria are verified every three years, taking into account the results of social intervention threshold tests carried out by the Institute of Labor and Social Affairs. From January 1, 2022, the income criteria for social assistance are: for a single person – PLN 776, for a person in a family – PLN 600.
