The police from Sokołów Podlaski detained two 17-year-olds who hit a road sign with a quad bike. The driver was not wearing a helmet and was under the influence of alcohol. As it turned out, the vehicle did not belong to them.

The incident took place on Saturday, June 1 in Sokołów Podlaski (Masovian Voivodeship). Police officers patrolling the city noticed two young men riding a quad bike without helmets. The vehicle did not have a license plate.

When the officers signaled to stop, the quad bike rider tried to turn into an alley between the buildings. While trying to escape from the patrol, the driver hit a road sign.

Half a per mille and no license

As it turned out, the 17-year-old behind the wheel was drunk. He had half a permille of alcohol in his body and did not have a driving license.

It also turned out that the quad bike did not belong to any of the teenagers. They took it from a friend without his knowledge or consent.

They will answer like adults

The young men were detained and placed in police custody. Both were charged with stealing a quad bike, and the driver was additionally charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

– Due to the fact that they are over 17 years of age, both of them will be held responsible for committing a punishable act as adults. They face up to five years in prison – said Agnieszka Borowska, spokeswoman for the District Police Headquarters in Sokołów Podlaski.
