The first day of the Polish national football team training camp usually involves a press conference by coach Michał Probierz and team captain Robert Lewandowski. This was the case this time, despite the fact that Lewandowski arrived at the training camp literally 20 minutes before the media meeting.
Probierz suddenly became serious. He thundered about the failed representative. “Someone did him wrong”
Both gentlemen were in a very good mood, although Lewandowski did not hide the fact that he was saddened by the news that his good friend Wojciech Szczęsny had ended his career. Probierz insisted on the same subject that in his opinion the former Juventus goalkeeper would not stick to his decision and would soon make a decision to return to football.
The attitude of Probierz and Lewandowski meant that the press conference was held in a rather relaxed atmosphere. At one point, the Barcelona striker, on the occasion of his reunion with Hansi Flick, was asked which club coach he would take with him to a desert island – Flick or Pep Guardiola.
– And what about me? – Michał Probierz interjected, making the journalists present in the room laugh.
– The question said it was about the club coach – Lewandowski informed the coach with a smile.
– And I don't like a desert island – Probierz added.
However, not every topic at this conference was so funny. At one point, when asked about the possibility of changing the formation, Michał Probierz referred to the case of Michael Ameyaw. Some media announced the call-up of the 24-year-old winger from Piast Gliwice, he even appeared in Liga+ Extra on Canal+, and the information about the call-up ultimately turned out to be false.
The whole situation did not please Probierz. – I have a comment about one of the players, because in the case of Michael Ameyaw someone did him wrong by informing him about his call-up – Probierz stated.
– We are watching him, but he was not on any list. What's more, this information came out before the staff meeting on the call-ups, so it couldn't have been a leak. And they even managed to invite the boy to Canal+ – thundered the coach of the Polish national team, who also supported Ameyaw, who was attacked on the internet by some because of the color of his skin. – Such hate is very unfair, I want Michael to know that I fully support him.
Probierz also revealed that Ameyaw may be called up to the national team in the future. – He is being closely watched. I would say that he is close to being called up and it is possible that if he continues to develop like this, he will receive it – he stated. Michael Ameyaw has scored three goals in seven matches in the current PKO Ekstraklasa season. His numbers from the previous season are six goals and four assists in 32 matches.
At 5:30 p.m., at Legia Warsaw's training center – Legia Training Center in Książenice – the squad is to hold its first training session of the September training camp. Mateusz Bogusz may not be there, as his arrival was delayed due to complications with flights.
