After Tuesday's presentation of the PlayStation 5 Pro, no one has any doubts that we will be dealing with a really efficient device that will finally be able to combine high-quality graphics with smooth gameplay at 60 frames per second.
As Mark Cerny, PlayStation's lead designer, explained, the console's graphics system has 67 percent more computing units than in PS5 and 28 percent faster memory. This in turn is to translate into 45 percent faster gameplay rendering. In addition, there is advanced Ray Tracing and SuperSpectral Super Resolution technology, the equivalent of DLSS from Nvidia or FSR from AMD.
800 euros for a console without a drive. That doesn't sound good
How Much Are These Upgrades Worth? According to Sony exactly 799.99 euros (PS4 Pro was $399.99 euro). This is the price at which the PS5 Pro will be offered in Europe. For now, we do not know how much the device will cost in Poland, but by converting this amount according to the current euro exchange rate, we get about 3400-3500 PLN. Of course, this does not have to be the final price of the device on the Polish market. We do not know exactly what conversion rate the Japanese company will use. The final amount may also be affected by, among other things, differences in the amount of VAT between individual countries.
PLN 3,400-3,500 for a gaming console is a lot. Let's recall that PlayStation 4 Pro started in Poland with a price of PLN 1,800. PS5 Pro will therefore be twice as expensive. And we are talking about a device… without an optical drive. In the case of new We will be able to purchase such a console separately and connect it to the device (as is now the case with the PS5 Slim).
When I was looking for a PS5 drive in Polish stores on Tuesday stores online, its prices ranged from PLN 550 to PLN 800. Now, however, it is impossible to find any sales offers. It can be assumed that the last pieces fell victim to scalpers, who will later want to resell them for a large profit.
Let's assume, however, that Sony replenishes stocks before the premiere and the PS5 Pro drive will be offered at a price of PLN 550. This gives us a total of PLN 3,950 for the console + drive. However, this is still not the end of the expenses. It turns out that the vertical stand for the new console will be sold separately. This accessory costs about PLN 140. Total price for the set? 4090 PLN – and this after applying a very favourable euro-zloty exchange rate.
Gamers Criticize PlayStation 5 Pro's Price. Rightly So?
It is therefore not surprising that a lot of critical voices appeared under the presentation of the new technical capabilities of the PS5 Pro posted on the PlayStation YouTube channel.
$700 for no vertical stand and no drive is the definition of insanity
– wrote one of the site's users, and his comment collected as many as 25 thousand thumbs up.
