He knew that he was wanted and had to serve a sentence of 3 years in prison. After 10 years, however, he decided that “he was fed up with hiding” and “wanted to live a normal life”, which is why he voluntarily surrendered himself to the Sopot police.
An unusual situation in the Sopot police station took place last Friday, August 11. A 48-year-old man came to her of his own free will, for whom operational activities were conducted. He explained that he was “sick of hiding” and “wanted to live a normal life”.
The man had been abroad for about 10 years. As a result of the conducted activities, the criminal investigators established that the wanted person lived and worked in the area German.
Three arrest warrants have been issued for him by the District Court in Sopot, and he has a total of 3 years, 3 months and 25 days to serve for theft offences.
A chance for a normal life
After drawing up the documentation, the criminals brought the detained 48-year-old to the detention center in order to serve the sentences.
– This situation is proof that hiding from law enforcement, often away from home, family and friends, is not the best solution. The awareness of the current sentence and the prospect of impending imprisonment effectively complicate both professional and private life. In this case, voluntarily surrendering yourself to the hands of uniformed officers and serving the sentence is a chance to start a normal life after its end – explains the Sopot police.
