In Sosnowiec, the Children’s Aid Center was opened on Friday, the eighth in Poland and the first in the south of the country. The uniqueness of this place lies in the fact that children will find free psychological, therapeutic, legal and medical help under one roof. They will not be sent away from here, they can be interrogated in friendly conditions and prepared for it first.

The network of child support centers in Poland is coordinated by the Empowering Children Foundation. On Friday, the eighth branch, the first in the Silesian Voivodeship and in the south of the country, was opened in Sosnowiec. It is run by the Moc Support foundation, which has ten years of experience in working for abused children.

What is the uniqueness of CPD? On the comprehensiveness and interdisciplinarity of assistance. As the organizers assure, the child will not be sent from here to specialists in other institutions, because he will find everyone on the spot.

“CPD is a place that provides free specialist psychological, therapeutic, legal and medical assistance to children and youth injured in crime or in a mental crisis after traumatic events” – we read on the website of CPD in Sosnowiec. – This is an exception, because we rarely approach the problem of harming holistically – says Beata Wojtkowska from the Moc Support Foundation.

Psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, therapists, pediatricians in one place

– Seven out of 10 children in Poland experience at least one form of abuse. Six out of 100 children experience sexual abuse. These kids can’t do it on their own. An effective model of helping is important, says Wojtkowska.

In CPD, a child victim of a crime can be interviewed in a friendly environment and prepared for it first.

There are four therapy rooms in the Sosnowiec facility. Two of them are adapted to work with small children, two with older ones. In one of them, non-harming parents are also admitted. Psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, therapists, but also paediatricians are waiting for them.
