A passenger plane crashed while landing at Muan Airport in South Korea. Reuters published a video showing the moment of the disaster. It shows the plane without the extended landing gear gliding along the runway and then crashing into a concrete fence.
A plane of the South Korean airline Jeju Air crashed on Sunday while landing at Muan Airport in the south of the country. The local fire department said at least 96 people died.
According to preliminary information provided by the Yonhap agency, the disaster occurred as a result of a landing gear failure caused by a collision with birds.
The pilot tried to land without the landing gear extended, on the fuselage, but this maneuver failed. The speeding plane slid down the runway and then hit the concrete fence. The machine burst into flames. Reuters published a video showing the moment of the disaster.
There were 175 passengers and six crew members on board the Boeing 737 flight from the capital of Thailand, Bangkok.
