The US military reported that an F-16 fighter jet crashed on Wednesday morning local time off the west coast of South Korea. The pilot survived the crash.
“The F-16 Fighting Falcon (…) experienced an emergency situation in flight over the Yellow Sea and crashed at approximately 8:41 a.m. local time,” US forces said.
“The pilot ejected safely and was rescued an hour later. He is conscious and was transported to a medical facility for examination,” we read in the press release.
The plane fell into the sea near the town of Gunsan, where one of the two main air bases used by the air force is located USA in South Korea.
The third disaster in this country since May 2023
This is the third crash of an American F-16 fighter in this country since May 2023. Both times the pilots were saved.
There are over 28,000 American soldiers stationed in South Korea.
