In Seoul, two South Korean police officers were stabbed in front of a building that houses, among others, president’s office. In connection with the attack, the services detained an over 70-year-old man, the Yonhap news agency reported.

Yonhap reported that one officer was stabbed in the stomach and another in the left arm. They were both taken to hospital. The agency reports that the 77-year-old perpetrator of the attack has been arrested.

According to Reuters, the attack took place in front of the building that houses the Ministry of National Defense and the president’s office. The motive for the attack is not clear.

From 1948 until 2022, the official residence of the president of South Korea was a residence called the Blue House. The decision to change the venue was made by the current president, Jun Suk Jeol. Currently, the president’s office is located in the Yongsan district in central Seoul.
