LOS ANGELES—Officers in Southern California on Sunday raced to restrict the harm performed by an oil spill that has been blamed on a damaged pipeline resulting in an offshore platform.

An estimated 126,000 gallons of heavy crude leaked into the waters off Orange County beginning late Friday or early Saturday, when boaters started reporting a sheen within the water, officers mentioned. The pipeline and operations at three offshore platforms owned by Houston-based Amplify Vitality Corp. had been shut down Saturday evening, CEO Martyn Willsher mentioned.
