Krzysztof M., 39, fired a firearm at the intervening police officers. As reported by Stanisław Bar, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Opole, the man faces a life sentence.

The incident occurred on October 23, 2023. Police officers from Opole were ordered to take Krzysztof M., a resident of Sowin, to custody for evading prison sentences. However, when he saw the police officers, he pulled out a gun and started threatening the officers with it.

Negotiators and assault team

Negotiators and an assault team equipped with anti-terrorist equipment were called to the scene. After fruitless talks aimed at convincing the man to surrender, armed police officers took action. After three officers entered the building, Krzysztof M. fired at least three shots with a pistol at them. One of the bullets hit a ballistic shield held by the policeman. Krzysztof M. was subdued with a stun gun. Over half a kilogram of marijuana and a non-fibrous hemp crop were found in the premises of the building occupied by the suspect.

He will be held accountable for the attempted murder of three policemen.

Krzysztof M. will be held responsible for attempting to kill three officers, forcing police officers to abandon their duties by unlawful threats and violence, illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, illegal possession of significant amounts of a narcotic substance, and cultivation of cannabis that could provide a significant amount of marijuana. The accused admitted only to possession of weapons and ammunition.

As reported by the prosecutor's office, the accused faces a sentence of 10 to 30 years of imprisonment or even life imprisonment for the crime of attempted murder. The indictment has already been filed with the court.

The suspect pleaded not guilty. After being arrested, he stated that he had been unlawfully attacked by police officers and had shot in self-defense.
