Floods following record high rainfall have hit central Spain. At least three people died as a result of the disaster near the city of Toledo, the local authorities reported on Monday. They added that the search for the three missing people was ongoing.

The beginning of September brought in central Spain storms and heavy rainfall. The violent weather caused streets, basements and garages to be flooded. The roads turned into raging torrents.

The situation was particularly difficult in the city of Toledo. For this reason, among other things, the Spanish meteorological service AEMET issued red alerts on Sunday.
