Devastating floods resulting from heavy rainfall hit central Spain a few days ago. On Friday, police and rescue services found the bodies of two more victims. In total, at least five people lost their lives as a result of the disaster, and two are missing.

Spanish police and rescue services have found the bodies of two men who went missing in towns west of Madrid, authorities announced on Friday. The search for two missing people is ongoing, including one in Aldea del Fresno.

Another victim of the violent weather was 83-year-old Jose Manuel Aguado, who was swept away by floodwaters near his home in Villamanta. The second person killed was a middle-aged man, Manuel Lopez. The car in which he was traveling with his family was pulled into the river late on Sunday evening. Lopez’s wife and daughter were rescued on the night from Sunday to Monday, while his son – according to local media, 11 years old – was found alive after spending the night clinging to a tree.

Floods in Spain

At least five people died in floods that hit a large area of ​​Spain over the weekend and Monday. The greatest destruction was reported in the province of Toledo, where one woman is still missing, and in Madrid.

Due to the flood, some bridges were damaged. Roads southwest of Madrid have turned into “rivers of mud”.
