The Military Counterintelligence Service and the Internal Security Agency have published a joint warning and a report on the activities of the Russian GRU intelligence service in many countries, including Poland. This activity is mainly aimed at enterprises involved in transporting help to Ukraine.

On Wednesday, Polish special services – SKW and ABW – in cooperation with abroad have published a joint report on the involvement of the Russian intelligence service of GRU, whose activities are aimed at western, Ukrainian and Polish logistics and technology companies involved in the transport of support on Ukraine.
The Ministry of Digitization said that the purpose of the report “is to warn potential victims and to provide them with recommendations that will help strengthen protection against threats.”

The services warn against the activities of Russian intelligence in Poland
“Cyberspace is today a field of real struggle for the security of countries. GRU activities concern public institutions, companies and citizens. We must talk about it loudly, so that no one is surprised when the victim falls. Our duty is to inform, warn and build immunity – together, over the boundaries,” said the Ministry Krzysztof GawkowskiMinister of Digitization and Government Plenipotentiary for Cybersecurity.

The ministry emphasized that “these activities have international scope” and that entities from many countries are attacked NATOincluding Poland. “GRU obtains information about routes and delivery dates, transhipment locations, broadcasters and recipients of military equipment. The goal is to gain operational knowledge that can be used against Ukraine and its partners,” he explained.
GRU activities were described as “organized and long -term”. “Burglaries allow Russian services to gain access to e -mail, documents and employee accounts. In many cases, the attackers maintained access for months – without arousing suspicion. Actions were carried out using e -mails impersonating the known institutions and using known gaps in software” – explained.
Russian intelligence hackers cameras
The use of civil devices, including private cameras, without the knowledge of their owners, was determined as “particularly disturbing”. As we read in the report, the GRU unit “also attempts to access the web connected to the Internet located at the border crossings of Ukraine, to monitor and track help of help”, including those belonging to entities and private individuals.
Special services predict that the GRU campaign will continue and remind you that protection against it is one of their key tasks.
The report published by SKW and ABW presents recommendations that can help reduce the risk of effective attacks of foreign intelligence services.
“Recommendations relate to, among others, strengthening e -mail protection, the use of strong passwords and two -component authentication, software update and safe management of IP camera and remote access” – added in the message. The report also contains examples and detailed descriptions of GRU method methods.
