A 21-year-old motorcyclist crashed into a car in front of him and left a passenger lying on the road. He then walked into a nearby field, driving his motorcycle. Now he can face a sentence of up to five years in prison.
On Sunday (June 5) at 11 am, the police in Łęczna received a report that an accident involving a motorcycle and an Opel car had occurred in the Spiczyn commune.
– As it turned out, the driver of the Opel was waiting at the intersection for the possibility of turning left, when suddenly he felt a strong blow to the rear of the vehicle. When he got out of the car, he saw one man lying on the road, and the other escaping with a motorcycle through the nearby fields and bushes towards Zawieprzyce, says junior aspirant Izabela Zięba from the County Police Headquarters in Łęczna.
They found him in the roadside bushes
The Opel driver urged the biker to return. The latter, however, did not want to give up and kept driving the motorcycle. The fugitives were followed by policemen and firefighters from the State Fire Service in Łęczna and the Volunteer Fire Department in Spiczyn. They found him in the roadside bushes.
It turned out that he was a 21-year-old resident of the Lubartów poviat.
– He was completely drunk, he had 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his body. Moreover, as a result of checking in the police systems, it was revealed that he had been banned from driving motor vehicles for a period of three years, the policeman points out.
He will also be responsible for breaking a court order
The 21-year-old was detained and placed in police custody. Soon he will be charged with drunk driving and driving despite the ban.
– He may face up to five years in prison. He will also be responsible for the traffic offense committed – emphasizes the young asp. Finch.
