SPIDERMAN and FROZEN II OLAF ice cream withdrawn from Biedronka. GIS warns

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate issued a public warning regarding some batches of ice cream sold in Biedronka stores. As explained by GIS, a component contaminated with ethylene oxide was used in their production.

“The Chief Sanitary Inspector has been informed that Unilever Polska sp. Z oo is recalling the following batches of SPIDERMAN and FROZEN II OLAF ice cream due to the use of an ingredient contaminated with ethylene oxide” – reads a GIS release.

It was clarified that ethylene oxide is a substance harmful to health and the presence of this substance in food in the European Union is not allowed.

Ice cream withdrawn from sale – details

Sanepid informed that the following products are subject to recall:

Unilever Polska sp. Z oo informed the recipient of the above-mentioned products (Jeronimo Martins Polska SA – the owner of the Biedronka chain) about the need to withdraw them from sale.

The authorities of the State Sanitary Inspection monitor the process of withdrawing from the market the above-mentioned lots of ice cream.

GIS indicates in the announcement that the above-mentioned batches of products should not be consumed.
