Śrem. Hitting a pedestrian on a pedestrian crossing, driver escaping

The police detained a 58-year-old man suspected of hitting a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing in Śrem (Greater Poland Voivodeship) and fleeing the scene without helping him. The man who was hit was taken to hospital.

As reported on Wednesday, sub-inspector Ewa Kasińska from the KPP in Śrem, last Sunday around 16.20, the police officer on duty was notified that in Śrem at ul. A pedestrian was hit on Farna Street and the perpetrator fled.

Driver facing charges

– According to the findings of the police officers who worked at the scene of the accident, a 64-year-old resident of Śrem was hit at a marked pedestrian crossing by the driver of a passenger car who fled the scene. The pedestrian was sober and was taken to hospital with injuries, Kasińska emphasized.

She added that the case was investigated by criminal investigators who identified and arrested the perpetrator of the hit-and-run. It turned out to be a 58-year-old resident of the Śrem commune, who was driving a Renault Megane car.

– Since the man fled the scene, he was considered the perpetrator road accident he was also charged with incurring aggravated responsibility, Kasińska noted.

A teenager was hit on a pedestrian crossing

The policewoman also informed that on Tuesday around 17.45 in Śrem, another pedestrian was hit while crossing a marked crossing on Al. Solidarity.

The 68-year-old driver of the car failed to give way to two 15-year-olds. After being helped on site, one of the girls was handed over to her father and released home. The second 15-year-old girl was taken to hospital in Poznań with injuries.

The case is being handled by police officers from the petty offenses team.
