The fire area of ​​the warehouse of Wildberries, one of the largest Russian online stores, has been reduced to four thousand square meters, the Interfax news agency reported. Nearly 300 firefighters, dozens of fire trucks and helicopters were sent to fight the fire. Authorities reported that no one was killed or injured as a result of the fire.

Ministry of Emergency Situations Russia reported that the fire broke out on Saturday after 7 a.m. Moscow time (5 a.m. in Poland) in the town of Shuszary near St. Petersburg.

The fire spread very quickly

The fire broke out on an area of ​​one thousand square meters, but spread very quickly. The 78.ru portal reported that in just half an hour the fire covered 70,000 square meters and the fire was assigned to the highest, fifth category.

Nearly 300 firefighters were sent to fight the fire. Dozens of fire trucks and helicopters were involved in extinguishing the fire.

Videos posted online showed thick black smoke and huge flames consuming the warehouse.

Staff were evacuated

Wildberries said in a statement that all warehouse staff had been evacuated. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, no one was killed or injured as a result of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Unofficially, Russian media report that arson is being considered. The Russian website RBK reported that the fire could have been caused by a faulty electrical installation.
