A 14-year-old boy was injured during a wedding procession in Stare Bystre (Lesser Poland Voivodeship). The boy got out of a carriage while riding, was hit and kicked in the head by a horse. He was taken to hospital in serious condition.
Aspirant Bartosz Izdebski from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Kraków said that the accident occurred on Saturday after 4 p.m.
The column was traveling from church to wedding. It was in the town of Stare Bystre in Nowy Targ County. Initial findings indicate that a fourteen-year-old boy, a resident of the county, got off the carriage and then tried to get back on, running between the horses. One of the horses got spooked and hit him with a hoof, probably in the head – the policeman reported.
The 14-year-old was taken to a hospital in Krakow in serious condition. He was transported there by an emergency medical service helicopter.
– The case is being taken over by the prosecutor's office, and the police secured all necessary traces at the scene – he said.
He added that on Sunday around noon the boy was still in serious condition and was in hospital under the care of doctors.
