Marijuana, amphetamines, ecstasy, cocaine – a soldier of the 2nd Sapper Battalion in Stargard (West Pomeranian Voivodeship) and five civilians were to – according to investigators – deal in drugs worth over PLN 300,000. The military officer was temporarily arrested. Now he faces up to 12 years in prison.

On September 22, a soldier of the 2nd Sapper Battalion in Stargard and five civilians were arrested in the provinces of West Pomeranian and Lubuskie. – The detainees were charged with committing the offense of participating in the trade in large amounts of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances – said the press spokesman of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań, Łukasz Wawrzyniak.

They found drugs, arrested a soldier

– During the detention and search, drugs worth over PLN 300,000 were seized, in the form of about five kilograms of dried hemp herb – other than fibrous – and smaller amounts of amphetamine, MDMA, cocaine and 4-CMC (klephedrone – ed.) – he enumerated Wawrzyniak.

The Military Affairs Department at the District Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań – on the basis of materials collected by the Szczecin branch of the Military Police – initiated an investigation into the participation of a soldier and detained civilians in the trade in large amounts of drugs and giving them to another person in order to gain financial benefits.

The Poznań Stare Miasto District Court granted the investigators’ request and applied a three-month detention to two suspects, including the detained soldier. With regard to the remaining suspects, the prosecutor applied libertarian preventive measures in the form of police supervision, property bail and a ban on leaving the country.

Participation in the trade in large amounts of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances is punishable by two to 12 years imprisonment.
