The indictment against Wojciech O was sent to the District Court in Kielce. According to the findings of the prosecutor’s office, on the eve of 2020, a man attacked a 23-year-old man in the market square in Staszów (Świętokrzyskie). He struck him two blows with a machete.
Wojciech O. will be responsible, inter alia, for the attempted murder. The District Prosecutor’s Office in Kielce announced on Monday that the indictment was sent to the court. There was an attack on the 23-year-old December 24 in the market square in Staszów.
– At some point Wojciech O. came to the victim, who was standing in a public place with two other men, and gave him two blows to the chest with a machete, causing extensive life-threatening injuries – said Daniel Prokopowicz, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Kielce.
Despite serious injuries, the victim managed to escape from the scene and call for help. The perpetrator fled the scene.
Allegations and recidivism
The policemen from Staszów and Kielce who worked on the case secured the surveillance recordings, interviewed witnesses and recreated the probable course of the event. This allowed to determine the personal details of the suspect and start searching for him. On Monday, January 4, officers in one of the apartments in Staszów detained the man they were looking for.
The prosecutor accused him of attempted murder and causing personal injury under recidivism – as he had served a prison sentence in the past for an offense against health and property – and asked the Staszów court to temporarily arrest the suspect, which was allowed.
As prosecutor Prokopowicz informed on Monday, the investigation in this case was over and the prosecutor referred the bill of indictment to the District Court in Kielce.
Wojciech O. remains temporarily arrested, he is facing a sentence of life imprisonment.
