The Border Guard argues that none of the migrants who were pushed abroad from Michałów wanted to submit an application for international aid in Poland. In one of the recordings from the border guards station in Michałów, you can hear a refugee shouting in a foreign language: – We want asylum. We want to stay in Poland. Asylum – Poland. Citizen – Poland. Spokeswoman of the Border Guard, 2nd Lt. Anna Michalska, when asked about these words, stated that “it was completely different in the premises of the Border Guard”.
On September 27, a group of 20 migrants, including women and eight children, found themselves in front of the Border Guard post in Michałów in Podlasie. They were people from Iraq and Turkish Kurds.
One of the migrants in Michałów: we want to stay in Poland
One of the recordings shows several adult migrants and children sitting on the ground. This group is separated from the gate by which the author of the recording was standing, Border Guard officers. One of the men shouts words in a foreign language at the camera for over a minute. TVN24 asked the translator to translate the migrant’s statements into Polish.
What the man says contradicts the information provided by the Border Guard. In a literal translation, the migrant said: – Poland asylum, asylum Poland. There is no asylum. Belarus, Belarus beats a man. He picks up the money and goes back to Poland. We want asylum. We want to stay in Poland. Asylum – Poland. Citizen – Poland.
He also talked about the children who stayed with him in Michałów. – These kids can’t walk. All these children in the forest are going to die. Children – finish. In the middle of the forest, all the children will die, the man said.
Border Guard spokeswoman: these people said “asylum, asylum”, but in Germany
On October 1, the Border Guard issued a communiqué on migrants from Michałów. “Border Guard officers informed foreigners about the possibility of submitting an application for international aid, but the children’s parents refused to submit such an application in Poland. These persons were only interested in submitting an application for international aid in Germany” – wrote the Guard.
As a result, the border guards “turned these people back to the border line with Belarus, ie the state where they are legally staying”.

As she added, “this person was asked in English so that we could communicate.” – “Azyl, Poland, Berlin” is a language in which we can understand each other where a person wants to apply for asylum – she said.
“It was completely different in the premises of the Border Guard”
– Thank you, your station, that you found a family that is in Germany, one of the families in Michałów confirms that these people did not want to submit their status in Poland and at the earliest opportunity came to Germany. Thank you for showing that the Border Guard is telling the truth – said Michalska to the TVN24 reporter.
The journalist tried to quote the migrant’s words from the recording, to which the spokeswoman immediately responded: “it’s in your presence”. “It was completely different in the Border Guard rooms,” she said.
When asked if an interpreter was present, Michalska replied: “The words ‘asylum Poland, asylum Berlin’ are understandable to Border Guard officers.”
