Joe Biden has declared freedom and democracy are “beneath assault” each within the US and overseas as he delivered one of the vital vital speeches of his presidency.

In his State of the Union tackle, the US president appealed to Congress to proceed supporting Ukraine in its warfare effort towards Russia, as he mentioned: “Historical past is watching.”

Talking within the Home chamber, Mr Biden rapidly turned his consideration to Republican opponent and predecessor Donald Trump, condemning his recent comments on Russia.

The 81-year-old pivoted to the 2021 January 6 rebel on the Capitol Constructing by Trump supporters – who he didn’t recognise as “patriots”.
