In the commune of Stawiguda (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship), a bull terrier without a leash or muzzle attacked a cyclist. Earlier, the owner let the dog out on the street and drove the vehicle herself.

The incident took place on Saturday (April 27) in one of the towns in the Stawiguda commune, Olsztyn poviat. – The 39-year-old Seat driver decided to “walk” her bull terrier. She let the dog out of the car onto the street and continued driving. A dog without a leash or muzzle attacked a 56-year-old cyclist coming from the opposite direction and threw him off his bike, said junior officer Jacek Wilczewski from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Olsztyn.

The man was taken to hospital

He added that the woman took the animal into the car and left the scene. The injured party was taken to hospital.

– The policemen called to the scene identified the driver and soon after visited her home. It turned out that at that time the woman had more than the permille of alcohol in her body. Investigators will now check whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol while driving the car. In addition, she may be liable for causing a road traffic accident, failing to provide assistance to the injured party and carelessly keeping an animal, the police officer explained.
