Firefighters received nearly 400 calls related to removing the effects of strong wind. The most reports were recorded in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. A warning was in place for Friday evening and overnight, with RCB appealing for items to be protected from the wind.
– Until 11 p.m. on Friday, firefighters recorded 391 reports related to removing the effects of strong wind – said the spokesman of the State Fire Service, Brig. Karol Kierzkowski.
The State Fire Service spokesman said that most incidents were recorded in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship – 83, of which in the Tatra poviat – 19, Nowy Sącz poviat – 10, Limanowski poviat – 12, Tarnów poviat – 10, as well as in the following voivodeships: Mazowieckie – 75, Silesia – 63, Lower Silesia – 23, Łódź Voivodeship – 22, Podkarpackie Voivodeship – 21 and Pomeranian Voivodeship – 20.
– The activities involve removing fallen trees and branches from streets, sidewalks and buildings – said Brig. Karol Kierzkowski.
Strong wind warnings
The Government Security Center warned on Friday of strong winds and a possible power outage in parts of nine voivodeships located in the middle of the country. The warning was in force on Friday evening and overnight. RCB appealed to protect things from the wind.
Meteorological warnings of the first and second degree against strong winds are in force in the central and northern parts of the country. In nine voivodeships where the second level alert is in force, IMWM forecasts temporary occurrence of strong winds with an average speed of up to 50 km/h, gusts from 70 km/h to 90 km/h, and locally up to 100 km/h. The wind will blow there from the south and west.
