Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first- and second-degree warnings on a three-level, increasing scale.
Second degree IMWM warnings – strong wind
Second degree alerts for strong winds have been issued in the following voivodeships:
- West Pomeranian Voivodeshipcounties: ŚwinoujścieKamieński, Gryfice, Kołobrzeg, Białogard, Koszalin, KoszalinSławno;
- Pomeraniancounties: Słupsk, SłupskLębork, Wejherowo, Puck;
- Lower Silesiacounties: Lubański, Lwówek, Karkonosze, Jelenia GóraKamienna Góra, Wałbrzych, WałbrzychKłodzko;
- Lesser PolandTatra County.
In the north of the country, it is expected to blow at an average speed of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour, with gusts up to 115 km/h, from the south-west. The strongest gusts will occur on January 1 during the day and evening.
In the region of Lower Silesia, winds will periodically blow at a speed of about 40 km/h, during the day on Wednesday and at night from Wednesday to Thursday up to 90 km/h, and on Thursday up to 80 km/h from the south-west and west.
In the Tatra County, the wind will reach an average speed of up to 50 km/h, with gusts of up to 110 km/h, from the southwest and west.
The warnings will be valid until 12 noon on Thursday, only in Małopolska they will expire at 15 on the same day.

First degree warnings against strong winds apply in the following voivodeships:
- West Pomeranian Voivodeship (except counties covered by level 2 alerts);
- Pomeranian (except poviats covered by higher level warnings);
- Lubuskie;
- Greater Poland (outside southern counties);
- Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship (excluding eastern counties);
- Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship;
- Silesian, in the following counties: Żywiec, Bielsko, Bielsko-BiałaCieszyn;
- Lesser Polandin the following counties: Nowy Targ, Sucha, Limanowski, Nowy SÄ…cz, Nowy SÄ…czGorlice;
- Podkarpackiein the following counties: Jasło, Krosno, KrosnoSanok, Lesko, Bieszczady.
Strong winds with an average speed of up to 45 km/h, gusts up to 80 km/h, from the south-west are forecast.
The alarms will be valid from 3 p.m. on Wednesday until 15 on Thursday.
