The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warns against storms. Warnings are in effect in four provinces.
Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first-degree meteorological warnings on a three-point, ascending scale.
IMWM first degree warnings – storms
Yellow warnings ahead storms valid in the following voivodeships:
- Warmia-Masuriain the following counties: Elbląg, ElblagBraniewo, Lidzbark, Bartoszyce, Kętrzyn, Węgorzewo, Gołdap, Olsztyn, OlsztynOstróda, Iława, Nowe Miasto;
- Kuyavian-Pomeranianin the Brodnica and Rypin poviats;
- Świętokrzyskieoutside the following counties: Ostrowiec, Opatów, Sandomierz;
- Lesser Polandoutside the following counties: Dąbrowa, Tarnów, TarnowGorlice;
Thunderstorms are forecast, which in places will be accompanied by heavy rainfall from 20 to 30 liters per square meter and wind gusts reaching speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour. Locally, hail will fall.
In the Świętokrzyskie and Małopolskie provinces the warnings will expire at midnight, while in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian and Warmian-Masurian provinces they will be valid until 6 a.m. on Monday.
What is the first-degree IMWM meteorological warning?
First-degree warning predicts conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and threaten health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from conducting activities in the area of the threat, including delays caused by traffic disruptions, disruptions in the course of outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and the development of the weather situation.
