Due to the strong wind, firefighters intervened 1428 times, including 787 on Thursday and another 641 from midnight to 6 am on Friday, informed Karol Kierzkowski from the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Warsaw.
According to the calculations of firefighters, the most interventions were recorded in the Pomorskie – 260, Zachodniopomorskie – 252, Warmińsko-Mazurskie – 250 and Mazowieckie – 110 voivodships.
– The activities consisted mainly in removing fallen trees and broken branches from roads and buildings – said Brigadier Kierzkowski on Friday.
Strong wind. Interventions in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship
In the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, firefighters went mainly to fallen trees.
– Most events, 53 were in Koszalin, 34 were recorded in Sławno, and 32 in Kamień Pomorski. They were mainly fallen trees – said captain Tomasz Kubiak, spokesman for the provincial commander of the State Fire Service in Szczecin.
Interventions in Warmia and Mazury
Firemen from Warmia and Mazury removed over 300 broken trees and boughs at night, a storm passed over the region. The wind was blowing at a speed of 90 kilometers per hour at times. Power lines are broken in the vicinity of Elbląg and Braniewo.
The officer of the provincial guard said that the most interventions were recorded in the vicinity of Olsztyn, Braniewo and in the Kętrzyn poviat.
In Olsztyn, a tree fell on a car parked in the parking lot, in the Braniewo poviat the car ran into a tree that blocked the road. Firefighters emphasize that no one was injured as a result of the storm.
Falling branches and trees also severed power lines in the vicinity of Elbląg and Braniewo – about 550 recipients were left without electricity in the morning. In Elbląg, firefighters powered a respirator under which a sick person was connected in a private apartment.
