In one of the plants in Strzegom (Lower Silesia Province), underground gas tanks caught fire. The flames outside reached several meters. Several fire engines were involved in the firefighting operation. Twenty people were evacuated from a nearby building.

The fire at the plant at Aleja Wojska Polskiego in Strzegom broke out on Sunday a few minutes before six o’clock. Upon arrival, it turned out that an underground gas tank had caught fire. The flames reached several meters.

As reported by the press officer of the Poviat Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Świdnica, junior brig. Łukasz Grzelak, at 5:58 the services received information about a gas fire from a tank in one of the plants in Strzegom at Aleja Wojska Polskiego. – 19 fire brigade units were sent to the site, including a specialist chemical rescue group from Wałbrzych. Upon arrival, it turned out that gas from an underground tank in one of the plants was on fire, the firefighter informed.

He added: – The situation is now under control, forces and resources are being sent back to the base. Earlier, 20 people were evacuated from nearby buildings, they have already returned to their homes. No one was injured as a result of the incident. It is not yet known what caused the fire.
