One of the inmates in Prison No. 2 in Strzelce Opolskie received a letter from his family, including a personal dedication from his son. The guards suspected that the cards might be soaked in a psychoactive substance. Narcotic tests showed the presence of methadone.

It was apparently a shipment like many others. A letter from the family informing the inmate of what is happening outside the prison walls and a card with the child’s drawings and a confession: “I love you, Dad.”

Recently – as Tomasz Tomczuk, the press spokesman of the Prison No. 2 in Strzelce Opolskie admits – it regularly happens that someone tries to impregnate the cards sent to prisoners and thus smuggle illegal substances into the prison. This shipment also seemed suspicious.

– As a result of the preventive actions, the officers learned that the cards in this letter may be soaked with a psychoactive substance. In connection with the above, the letter was tested with a drug test after reaching the unit. Preliminary results of the study showed the presence of methadone – says Tomczuk.

The parcel, instead of to the addressee, ended up in the hands of the policemen, who will continue to verify the findings of the prison guards. The police will also determine who the sender of the letter was.

– Such pictures from children are supposed to arouse sympathy and remove suspicions. But the vigilance of our employees has not disappointed once again – adds the spokesman for ZK No. 2.
