Over 160 interventions of Podkarpackie firefighters. Mainly it was about removing broken trees. Firefighters also made power generators available to power medical devices necessary to sustain the lives of patients at home.
The actions of firefighters, as noted by Brigadier Marcin Betleja, spokesman for the Podkarpackie Voivodship Commander of the State Fire Service, consisted mainly in removing broken branches and trees that fell on the roads and pavements under the pressure of snow.
– Most interventions were recorded in the Mielecki, Rzeszów and Tarnobrzeski poviats. Fortunately, no one was injured, added Marcin Betleja.
According to a spokesman, firefighters they also helped to secure a fragment of the roof on a residential house, which most likely collapsed under the pressure of snow.
– In turn, in the districts of Krosno, Sanok and Kolbuszów, firemen made available three power generators needed to power medical devices necessary to sustain the lives of patients at home – said Betleja.
Firefighters call for snow removal from roofs
– We urge you to check the thickness of the snow cover on the roofs. Remember that one cubic meter of wet snow can weigh close to a ton. Buildings may not be prepared for such a large, additional load and a construction disaster may occur, the spokesman stressed.
As a consequence of heavy snowfall in Podkarpacie on Sunday, six thousand customers were deprived of electricity supplies.
Currently, less than 900 customers remain without power. All failures should be removed by noon – said Łukasz Boczar from the Rzeszów branch of PGE Dystrybucja.
