The residents of Hajduk Nyskie (Opole Province) are struggling with the effects of flooding. On Saturday, some of the houses in the village were flooded. – If it weren't for the help from the neighbors, who have houses located higher, it would be difficult. Help is also needed for the farmer, who has cattle and has been left without feed – says Mrs. Małgorzata.
Mrs. Małgorzata lives in Hajduki Nyskie. It is a village located south of Nysa (Opole Province). The Kamienica River flows through the village. – It is actually a stream, in which you can only dip your feet – she says. On Saturday it turned into a rushing river. As reported by the residents, the village was divided into two parts.
– We were totally surprised. We had no idea that we could be flooded. We were rather reassured, so we did not prepare in any way. On Saturday at around 2 pm, water suddenly appeared. We had the impression that it was flowing from everywhere: from the river, from the fields, from the sewage manholes. It was as if a rushing river flowed through our house – says Mrs. Małgorzata.

The enormous force with which the residents of this town had to deal can be seen in the recordings published on social media.
In a single-family home where a woman lives, water flooded the basement to a depth of one and a half meters. “I had some food supplies there and appliances like a refrigerator, washing machine, dryer and stove. Everything is flooded because we didn't manage to take anything out to save anything from it,” she reports.
According to Mrs. Małgorzata, right after the flooding, firefighters from the Volunteer Fire Department appeared in the town. – They helped pump water out of the basements, but after a while the rooms were flooded again. After that, no one came to help us. If it wasn't for the help from our neighbors, who have houses located higher up, it would have been difficult. This solidarity is wonderful. We also visited our close neighbors. They are elderly people, they moved to the first floor. We checked on them and if they needed anything. Yesterday, we managed to get them out of the house and I know that they were transported to a safe place in Opole – she says.
Mrs. Małgorzata says that Hajduki Nyskie still lacks basic necessities such as bread, food with a long shelf life, and hygiene products. – Maybe we'll manage to get to the outskirts of Nysa somehow, to get something. People here have farm animals and they don't have feed for them. You can hear the heartbreaking mooing of cows in the village. There's no place to even take them out – she adds.
As Mrs. Małgorzata describes, the water is slowly starting to subside, but it is still standing in many places. – We have no drinking water or electricity. The roads are destroyed, the asphalt is torn up, there are holes in the roads and unsecured sewage manholes. And it is just starting to rain again. Let's hope the worst is behind us – adds Małgorzata.
