Sulechów. They stole everything they could, even garden gnomes and asparagus.

Police from Sulechów have detained a woman and two men who were allegedly stealing various items in the Lubuskie province for several weeks. Among other things, electric bicycles and garden gnomes were recovered. Now, the detainees face a long prison sentence.

Last Thursday, detectives from Sulechów detained a 27-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man suspected of stealing fuel from tanks on the premises of a company in Kargowa (Lubuskie Province). The next day, they arrested their 27-year-old colleague, who was supposed to be working with them in a criminal trio.

– The efficient arrest was possible thanks to the proper reconnaissance and information obtained by Staff Sergeant Artur Brzozowski, head of the Police Station in Kargowa. All three were taken to police custody – says Małgorzata Stanisławska, spokeswoman for the Municipal Police Headquarters in Zielona Góra.

They allegedly caused losses of 34 thousand zlotys.

During the proceedings, the police established that the detainees had repeatedly stolen fuel and batteries in various locations in the Kargowa commune and the Babimost commune. – The criminal trio also stole two electric bicycles, as well as 400 kilograms of asparagus from the crop. The losses caused by the suspects amounted to over 34 thousand złoty – Stanisławska reports.

All suspects have been charged with nine counts of theft. A separate misdemeanor is being prosecuted for the theft of garden gnomes by the three detainees.

The suspects admitted to the charges and gave explanations. – The police recovered the stolen bikes and several batteries, which will be returned to their owners – informed Stanisławska.

Men to be held accountable for recidivist theft

All three suspects are residents of the Kargowa commune. The woman faces five years in prison for the theft. Since both men had previous convictions for property crimes, they will be held accountable for the crime under recidivism conditions, which means they face up to seven and a half years in prison.
