I submitted a notification to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Mińsk Mazowiecki about the destruction of the monument and to the Poviat Building Supervision Inspector for securing and improving the technical condition of the object – informed the Mazovian Voivodship Conservator of Monuments, Prof. Jakub Lewicki. It’s about Saturday’s fire of the historic Świdermajer in Sulejówek.
– There was a fire in the attic of a wooden vacant building. At the climax of the fire, 10 fire brigades put out the fire. After about 3 hours, before midnight, the fire was extinguished. The attic and the roof burned down – said Capt. Kamil Płochocki from the fire brigade in Mińsk Mazowiecki.
On Monday morning, MWKZ employees and representatives of the commune arrived at the site.
“I submitted a notification to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Mińsk Mazowiecki about the destruction of the monument and to the Poviat Building Supervision Inspector for securing and improving the technical condition of the facility. An inspection of our employees is also planned to assess the condition of the monument” – informed the MWKZ.
He explained that the Villa Zagłobin, dating from 1906, is included in the Communal Registry of Monuments of the Provincial Registry of Monuments. “Its protection is also guaranteed in the local spatial development plan” – he added.
The building is suitable for renovation
Deputy Mayor of Sulejówek, Remigiusz Górniak, said that, according to the preliminary assessment, the building will not be dismantled and will be suitable for renovation, and the burnt elements must be replaced.
On Sunday, August 20, there was another fire in Sulejówek, this time at ul. 3 Maja 50 – A utility room caught fire. 3 fire brigades participated in the operation. The cell was completely burnt down – reported senior captain Kamil Płochocki.
Possible arson
The firefighter added that it was probably arson in both cases.
The city hall was aggregated for weekend fires.
– Together with the police this morning we compiled a list of all city vacancies. Their areas will now be often patrolled by the police,” said Deputy Mayor Górniak.
He appealed to residents to be vigilant against suspicious situations. “In case of reasonable suspicion, please contact the police,” he added.
