Doctors failed to save the lives of two 15-year-old girls who collided with a motorboat while riding a jet ski. The circumstances of the tragedy that took place on Saturday in Zalew Sulejowskim are being explained by the police under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
We informed about the accident on tvn24.pl shortly after the event. Unfortunately, on Wednesday, Adam Czerwiński from the Institute of the Polish Mother’s Memorial Hospital in Łódź, where severely injured teenagers were sent, reported that both were dead.
According to “Dziennik Łódzki”, which was the first to provide the tragic information, the teenagers died on Tuesday.
The accident happened on Saturday around 12:30. As reported by staff assistant Grzegorz Stasiak from the Tomaszów district headquarters, a scooter and a motorboat collided a few hundred meters from Tresta Bay.
– The collision occurred a few hundred meters from the shore. The jet ski was driven by two teenagers, and the 58-year-old man steered the motorboat, which slipped out of the bay. He transported his daughters aged 15 and 18 – says Asp. staff. Stasiak.
Teenagers who were riding a scooter after the accident lost consciousness. – They fell into the water, floated on the surface thanks to life jackets. Their condition was very serious, they were taken to the hospital by helicopters of the Polish Medical Air Rescue.
The helmsman and his daughters were not seriously injured.
Explaining the reasons
Waldemar Szymański, deputy district prosecutor in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, informs that preparatory proceedings have been initiated in the case of causing an accident in water traffic.
– The activities are carried out by the police under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office – said Waldemar Szymański.
Police say the drivers of both vehicles had the required licenses.
The helmsman of the motor boat was subjected to a breath alcohol test. He was sober.
