A fine of three thousand złoty and 10 penalty points – this is the penalty for drifting on the Market Square in Sułkowice (Małopolska), which ended with hitting a road sign. Although the 20-year-old driver fled the scene of the collision, the police found him thanks to a witness's report.
On Tuesday (August 27) after 8 p.m., police officers from Myślenice received a report of a car drifting around the Market Square in Sułkowice. According to a witness, in addition to the young driver, there was also a female passenger in the red Toyota.
The man lost control of his car at one point and it hit a roadside sign. After the collision, he fled the scene.
A driver mowed down a road sign
“Thanks to the witness's report, the police quickly determined that the car belonged to a resident of the Sułkowice commune. A moment later they were already at the scene, at the irresponsible driver's house. It turned out that a 20-year-old was behind the wheel of the Toyota passenger car,” the Małopolska police reported in a press release.
The young man was sober at the time of the intervention. He admitted to damaging the sign – the damage to his Toyota also indicated that he had collided with a metal post. As a “reward” for his failed performance, the police punished the 20-year-old with a fine of three thousand złoty and 10 penalty points.
